Hometown Heroes–First Edition

We are very excited to share with your our very first edition of our Hometown Hero series! We plan on selecting a local hometown hero to feature each month. The heroes will be local men and women who have dedicated themselves to community service and have gone above and beyond to help others. These men and women include firefighters, EMTs, police officers and others who’ve gone beyond themselves to help those around them.

Our first hometown hero is near and dear to our hearts. Wayne E. Ray is not only the founder of Snapshot 47 Photos but he has also been a dedicated firefighter for 42 years. He currently serves as the Chaplin and photographer for Fallowfield Township Volunteer Fire Company, Washington County Station #47. Through out his 40 years of service at F.T.V.F.C. he held the positions of Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Engineer, and Treasurer of the Relief Association. In addition to his work with F.T.V.F.C. he also has served two years with the North Belle VFD.

When Wayne is not serving his community he spends time with his wife, Joyce. Together they have two daughters, Denise Trona of Lumberton, Texas and Jennifer Codeluppi of Fallowfield Twp, PA. They also have 4 grandchildren and 3 Great Grand Children.

Wayne works as a dental technician at Ray Orthodontic Lab and is an insurance agent with VFIS who provides insurance for fire departments. Wayne is also the Tax Collector of Fallowfield Township.

In addition to his firefighting volunteerism, he also serves as sub deacon of St. Mary’s Eposcopal Church and Lay Minister. He has been awarded the Prudential Community Service Award and the Mon Valley Regional Chamber Shining Star Award.

Wayne dedicates his life to helping others and encourages you to find a way to serve in your community. If you are interested in being a volunteer firefighter check out the Fallowfield Township Volunteer Fire Company’s webpage or their Facebook page for more information or contact your local fire department! Thank you, Wayne, and all other Volunteer Fire Fighters!
